Meditaion Wedding

We have had several wedding on site. Some have been by the beach but I think the view from Meditation Point is breathless! Especially timed when the sun is sinking into the horizon, the mass ends with 'Ite misa est'-the the priest turns to the sunset, and you get goose pimples feeling His presence! It never fails to end the ceremony with everyone in awe!

Fast Forward-War ends!

The war ended and I remember the American soldiers marching into town, with big smiles handing out "Hersheys" chocolate bars! They were delicious, never remember tasting anything like them! The Americans had landed in Maiigaya Beach in amphibian tanks! Big 9 lbs. cans of corned beef hash, and cheese were exchanged for fresh produce! K-RAtions were handed out!

The vegetable garden

The bamboo houses were built hurriedly and some of the bamboo was still green. They were simple structures. There were two designs, one was like a barrack, with rooms all in a row, a long corridor for families with children. Another was like a bungalo, with maybe 3 rooms. We occupied a barrack and Enrique Brias, who was single at the time, and his two sisters, occupied a bungalo. Papa had a vegetable garden where all the people who lived there, go in the morning to tend to the vegetable garden and harvest some vegetables to eat that day! It was fun to see tomatoes ripening by the day and gathering spinach leaves to eat!

During the 'war years', we leaved in Nasugbu Batangas. Roxas & Company asked some of their employees who wanted to 'wait the war' in Nasugbu. So my father, designed in the heart of the town of Nasugbu a community of houses made out of bamboo. It was situated in front of the plaza, and within walking distance to the church. In the compound was a big old house, which was called the Casa Hacienda, where the Roxas brothers lived. The family of Don Antonio & Dona Maruja (de Mendezona0) and their two children lived, Pamen & Anton, and Eduardo still a bachelor lived there. And their brother Jose. I remember the big house with high concrete stairs, leading to a big wooden door. The house had wide narra planks for floors and between the rooms were open carved panels for ventilation.

Kawayan is very special to me, as it hold a treasure chest of great memories! My father, Jose Razon worked for the Roxas brothers, Antonio Eduardo & Jose. He was the lawyer and administrator for Central Azucarera Don Pedro. My father always said 'when God made the Roxas brothers, he threw away the mold'!
